Pope Francis has asked us to find mercy in our hearts and reach out to help those in need for this is “The Year of Mercy.” Our St. Cyprian students are doing just that. We have formed a group of students who will lead the Mercy Children’s Brigade and adopt outreach projects that will touch the lives of many.
Our first service project will be one that helps individuals who have sacrificed much so that we continue to feel safe in our homes and community. These men and women served our country and now find themselves in a fragile situation. They are homeless and have had difficulty finding a job.
Won’t you please help our homeless veterans Each class has been asked to donate an item that we take for granted every day. The Mercy Children’s Brigade has made a list and assigned each class an item. We will collect these items the week of January 31 thru February 5th. The students will then make bags for the Veterans with these much needed necessities. We are so grateful for your generosity in the past and hope that you will follow Pope Francis’s lead and find mercy in your heart to help our homeless veterans. These items will benefit the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans located in Wheaton, IL.
“Ah, Mercy. This is the name of God.” – Pope Francis
