Patriot’s Pen Writing Contest

Our Junior High students participated in the Patriot’s Pen Writing Contest sponsored by the VFW of River Grove. “Conducted nationwide, this VFW-sponsored youth essay competition gives students an opportunity to write essays expressing their views on an annual patriotic theme.” The winners of the contest are awarded cash prizes of different amounts dictated by placement in the contest rankings. ┬áThis year’s theme was “The America I Believe In.” There were 48 submissions turned in to the local VFW for review, eight from St. Cyprian and 40 from another local school, along with numerous submissions from other schools across the nation. Of the 54 possible winners, three winners came from our local pool. Two of the three winners were our very own St. Cyprian Students, Sarah from 8th Grade and Kristen from 7th! We are extremely proud of them and all of our students who submitted entries. Way to go Chargers!

Our two winners attended a beautiful dinner with their families, where certificates were distributed. Through the next level of the contest, Kristen came in 2nd Place over all! Congrats once again to our Chargers and all who participated.
